Sendai Airport is truly the gateway to the Tohoku region, offering flights between Sendai and international airports in Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing and Guam as well as domestic services from Narita, Sapporo, Nagoya, Komatsu, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Okinawa.

It is the perfect location for international and domestic tourists to start their Tohoku adventure, with plenty of convenient transport options connecting the airport with each of the six northernmost prefectures of Honshu - Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, Miyagi and Fukushima. As well as direct access to Sendai Station (for access to JR local lines and Shinkansen), there are also a range of great value highway buses to some of Tohoku's major locations.

Recently renovated, the airport itself has all the best facilities on offer, from a fantastic range of shops and restaurants to a helpful tourist information desk right outside arrivals and a 'Runners Port' (with lockers and showers) for those wanting to take advantage of the great running tracks in the local area. Of course, there are also the ATMs, money exchange, travel insurance desk, wifi/sim-cards, courier services and airline lounges that you would expect from a top-class airport. Basically, everything you need to prepare for your Tohoku journey is right here, as soon as you step off the plane.

Among many international travelers there is a pervasive misconception that the Tohoku region is just 'too far away'. Sadly, this is often the reason Tohoku is left off travel itineraries and many travelers miss out on all the fantastic attractions on offer!! Make Sendai International Airport your gateway to North Japan -  all of Tohoku is waiting for you!
