Snow/ Sports

sports

The Akita prefecture receives the 3rd largest amount of snowfall in all of Japan. It usually starts snowing in the beginning of November, which signals that another year for winter sports has arrived. There are about 20 ski resorts in Akita, and some are open from as early as November and you can enjoy skiing/snowboarding until as late as mid-April. Most ski resorts have professional instructors, so you have the option to take lessons if you are a beginner. Rentals are also available so anyone can enjoy the winter sports.
